Becky Jones is one of more than 40 individuals who have initiated legal proceedings against a hospital trust, alleging they received unnecessary and prolonged chemotherapy treatments. Jones claims she underwent 11 years of chemotherapy for a cancer diagnosis that was later found to be incorrect.
The patient's treatment reportedly continued until 2024, when she was informed by a doctor that her chemotherapy would cease. According to Jones, the doctor provided no specific reason for the cessation, only stating that a Dr. Ian Brown had retired, information she had not previously known.
She was directed to a new oncologist for any inquiries but was not given a name. Jones expressed feeling unsupported by the hospital during this period and uncertain about where to seek guidance.
In May 2025, independent neurosurgeons and radiologists, reviewing her case on behalf of her legal representatives, concluded that Jones had never had brain cancer. Instead, it was determined she had been suffering from tumefactive demyelination, an inflammatory condition typically managed by neurologists with strong steroids.
Jones received this news during a video call with her solicitors and the medical experts. Her legal representative, Tinsley, described the moment of revelation as emotional, with tears shed by everyone present. The legal action is currently underway against the hospital trust.
