Pat Sajak Makes Rare Public Appearance Two Years After Wheel of Fortune Retirement
The longtime host attended a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony and spoke about longevity in the entertainment industry.
Pat Sajak, 79, made a rare public appearance on Thursday at a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony honoring the musical duo Air Supply. The appearance comes two years after Sajak retired from his 41-year tenure as the host of Wheel of Fortune.
Sajak was present for the ceremony celebrating Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock of Air Supply. In a video shared by MaximoTV, Sajak spoke about his friendship with the musicians and reflected on the nature of a long career in entertainment. "I do know a little bit about longevity," Sajak said. "As was pointed out, I did my little show for over 40 years, and I understand the challenge of trying not to wear out your welcome."
He added that Russell and Hitchcock have been performing for over 50 years, continuing to entertain audiences with sold-out shows. Sajak praised their commitment to performance, stating, "They never phone in their performance. They never try to live off their reputation. They go all out each and every time they step on the stage, and they never disappoint."
Sajak, who retired from Wheel of Fortune and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune in 2024, handing over hosting duties to Ryan Seacrest, has been enjoying his retirement. He and his wife, Lesly Brown, reportedly split their time between homes in Los Angeles and Maryland. Prior to his retirement, Sajak also took on a role in a stage production of "Prescription: Murder" in Honolulu the previous summer. He was a three-time Emmy winner for Outstanding Game Show Host and received a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011.
