Pat McAfee Responds to Criticism Over Jason Kelce Comments

Pat McAfee has issued a strong rebuke to critics who he believes misinterpreted his comments regarding Jason Kelce's use of the word "we" when discussing the Philadelphia Eagles. On Wednesday's installment of "The Pat McAfee Show," McAfee addressed what he described as a "piling on" after he pointed out Kelce's frequent use of the term during a "Monday Night Football" broadcast.

"If you thought I was being serious whenever I pointed out that Jason Kelce was saying ‘we’ about the Philadelphia Eagles, knowing who Jason Kelce is, with the Philadelphia Eagles at the ‘Monday Night Football’ halftime, you have no brain," McAfee stated. He further expressed his frustration with what he perceives as misrepresentation, adding, "And I don’t love just the lying and the stuff that happens on my name these days, but just saying stuff to continue to add gas to a flame that isn’t real... I hope you all rot. All of you."

McAfee's initial remarks about Kelce's "we" usage during the broadcast drew attention, leading to Kelce's on-air apology. "A lot of we talk out of Jason for Philly," McAfee had observed, to which Kelce responded, "Sorry, sorry."

The situation gained further traction when former ESPN analyst Ryan Clark defended Kelce on X (formerly Twitter), noting his status as a future Hall of Famer. Kelce spent his entire 13-year NFL career with the Eagles, winning a Super Bowl in the 2017-18 season. He later signed a multi-year deal with ESPN after retiring in 2024.

McAfee also alluded to other recent controversies, including a segment last week where he read an alleged threat directed at him aloud on air. This threat appeared to reference the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
