Pat McAfee, host of his self-titled show on ESPN, addressed criticism of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's recent wedding, describing it as a spectacular event and defending the couple against negative commentary.
During his show, McAfee reacted to a co-host's comment calling the wedding "tacky." He paused before responding, stating that any negative perceptions of the event likely come from individuals who were not meant to be there. He also touched upon the backlash some of Kelce's friends faced regarding the wedding guest list.
McAfee mentioned that he and his wife were surprised by their invitation but were thankful and enjoyed the celebration, which he characterized as "top of the line." He observed that Travis Kelce appeared deeply in love and happy.
McAfee, who is reportedly nearing a new ESPN contract worth approximately $60 million annually, emphasized the grandeur of the wedding. "It was the most spectacular evening I have ever been a part of," he stated. He described the event as the "most spectacular, grand thing" he had ever witnessed, highlighting the fusion of Swift's creative vision and Kelce's energy, bringing together the football and Hollywood worlds.
He recounted musical performances by Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, and Avril Lavigne, noting that McCartney played a song he hadn't performed since the 1960s. McAfee also mentioned "Nobu buffets" being available throughout the venue.
McAfee, who is broadcasting his show from Pittsburgh for the MLB All-Star Game, also provided a brief update on Patrick Mahomes, stating the quarterback appears to be in good health following ACL surgery and is aiming to be ready for the start of the next NFL season.
