Three individuals have been arrested in connection with an alleged abuse case involving a 14-year-old girl in Poplarville, Mississippi. Dawson Brown, 27, the adult son of a local pastor, faces charges including statutory rape, sexual battery, and human trafficking. His mother, Sabrina Brown, 54, has been charged with conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence, attempted tampering with physical evidence, and child neglect.
The Pearl River County Sheriff's Department received an anonymous report in June indicating the teen was pregnant. Investigators have determined that Dawson Brown is the father. According to court documents, the alleged sexual relationship began in the fall of 2025 when the girl was 13.
The teen's mother, Kendrell Bowden, 32, has also been arrested and charged with human trafficking and contributing to the neglect or delinquency of a child. Investigators believe Bowden initially withheld information about her daughter's relationship with Dawson Brown due to fear, but later admitted to having knowledge of the relationship.
Text messages reviewed by investigators appear to show discussions between Dawson Brown and Bowden regarding the teen's pregnancy, with one message from Dawson allegedly asking Bowden if he should leave the country. Court documents also indicate that Sabrina Brown allegedly pressured the teen to create false DNA evidence, and that Bowden gave permission for Dawson Brown to travel with her daughter to Alabama.
Authorities are also examining claims that the College Heights Baptist Church, where Pastor Michael Brown preaches, may have held a baby shower for the pregnant teen. The church itself has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and investigators are working to verify the rumor.
Dawson Brown was denied bond at a recent court hearing. Sabrina Brown was released on a $10,000 bond, and Kendrell Bowden remains in custody with a $150,000 bond for human trafficking and a $10,000 bond for child neglect.
A paternity test is scheduled to be conducted once the teen gives birth.
