A group of British passengers were removed from an easyJet flight by police after repeatedly ignoring instructions to stop vaping during a five-hour journey. The incident occurred on flight EZY6610 from Larnaca, Cyprus, to Birmingham on September 16.
According to witness accounts, the three women and one man continued to vape despite multiple requests from cabin crew and complaints from other passengers. The plane was delayed for approximately 20 to 25 minutes while authorities dealt with the situation.
In a video captured by another passenger, a police officer is heard asking the group to leave the aircraft. "Just go that way. We'll have a chat with you outside," the officer stated. Following the interaction, a woman with grey hair and three other individuals were seen leaving the plane, causing frustration among other travelers, some of whom reported children crying due to the delay and the disruptive behavior.
An easyJet spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating that the flight was met by police upon arrival due to the passengers' disruptive behavior. The airline emphasized that its cabin crew are trained to handle such situations to ensure the safety of the flight and its customers, and that disruptive behavior is not tolerated.
West Midlands Police confirmed they responded to a complaint of disruptive passengers and assisted in asking individuals to leave the plane.
