Passenger Recounts How He Helped Stop Cockpit Attack on Diverted Flight
A passenger described intervening in an alleged attack on a Flydubai flight that led to its diversion to Saudi Arabia.
A passenger on a Flydubai flight that was diverted to Saudi Arabia recounted how he and other passengers intervened to stop an alleged attack in the cockpit, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was told.
The passenger met with Netanyahu at Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv after the flight's safe arrival. He explained that he helped to physically restrain the alleged attacker and also pulled back on the plane's controls as it experienced a rapid descent.
The aircraft plummeted approximately 17,000 feet in under two minutes after the incident. The diversion to Saudi Arabia occurred due to the emergency situation.
Following the diversion, a replacement Flydubai aircraft transported the passengers to Tel Aviv, where they have since landed safely.
