Passenger Evacuated After Bomb Threat on Flight to London

Passengers were evacuated from a Jet2 flight at Tenerife South Airport on Friday after a passenger claimed to be carrying a bomb in their luggage. The flight, bound for London Stansted, was scheduled to depart at 11:20 a.m. local time but was delayed for over two hours.

Spain's Civil Guard allowed other travelers to reboard the plane, identified as flight 1536, which departed around 1:45 p.m. local time and landed at Stansted around 6 p.m. It remains unclear if the passenger who made the threat was arrested.

A spokesperson for Jet2 confirmed the incident, stating, "We can confirm that customers were asked to disembark a flight at Tenerife South Airport yesterday following an incident involving a passenger onboard. Customers have since reboarded and the flight has now landed at London Stansted as planned. We would like to apologize to everyone onboard for the delay and any inconvenience caused."

This incident echoes a separate event in July at Barcelona's El Prat airport, where a man reportedly yelled "Allahu Akbar" and threw a backpack to the ground, causing panic among other travelers. Airport staff neutralized the individual before police arrived and arrested him. While initially described as a Dominican Republic national, police later stated he was a 23-year-old from Honduras.
