Paris Jackson described her first meeting with her mother, Debbie Rowe, which occurred when Jackson was 15 years old. She recounted the encounter on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, stating that she casually walked into the living room and greeted Rowe, who was with Jackson's grandmother.
"I remember coming downstairs and she was in the living room with my grandma," Jackson told host Alex Cooper. "I came in and I was just like, ‘Hey, Mom.'"
Rowe, a nurse, gave birth to Paris in 1997 and her son Prince Michael Jackson II (formerly known as Blanket) in 1998. Michael Jackson and Rowe divorced in 2000, with the singer receiving full custody of their children.
Following their initial meeting, Jackson said she and Rowe "sat down, we talked for a second and then we went out for the day and just, like, hung out."
Jackson, who is an Aries, noted that she and her mother, a Sagittarius, are similar due to their shared "fire" astrological signs. She also explained her approach to relationships, including her relationship with her mother. "I learned how expectations can mess things up, so I walked into that relationship – and others in my life – without them," Jackson said. "That way, I don’t end up maybe being disappointed or frustrated or irritated, or a resentment will be born or something."
She added that when she enters situations without expectations, it "creates this really cool space for something organic to just blossom." Jackson also mentioned that this mindset has become "more refined" over time.
Reports from 2013 indicated that Jackson was bonding with her mother, and the two made headlines for sharing a rare selfie together earlier this year.
During the podcast, Jackson also offered a glimpse into her secluded childhood with her father, Michael Jackson. She explained that the family wore masks in public to allow them to "go to Chuck E. Cheese and be normal." Additionally, she noted that she and her siblings were not permitted to watch television on weekdays, only on weekends after completing chores and homework.
Michael Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50. Paris Jackson referred to her late father as a "really funny guy" and called herself his "little princess."
