Parents Arrested After Violent Brawl Erupts at Texas Youth Softball Game
A man was hospitalized with a fractured skull after an altercation escalated during a 12-year-old girls' softball game in Sugar Land, Texas.
Two parents have been arrested following a violent confrontation at a 12-year-old girls' softball game in Sugar Land, Texas, that left one man with severe injuries. Kiarious Marshun Hall and his wife, Jazmine Hall, were taken into custody after the incident at Imperial Park on Saturday.
The altercation reportedly began when a parent from the opposing Timbergrove Thunder team approached Kiarious Hall to address his disruptive cheering during the opposing team's at-bats. Witnesses stated that Kiarious was told he could not cheer before the opposing players pitched the ball.
Video footage captured Kiarious Hall allegedly striking the other parent in the face with a metal water bottle, causing the man to lose consciousness. The injured parent sustained a broken jaw, fractured skull, and brain bleeds, and remains hospitalized. His attorney confirmed his condition.
During the melee, a grandfather named Gary Greaser attempted to intervene and disarm Kiarious Hall. Greaser stated he told Hall, "You can't do this." As Greaser attempted to intervene, Jazmine Hall allegedly pushed him, causing both to fall into bushes. Greaser sustained a broken hip and required stitches for a chin laceration.
Greaser described the incident as escalating quickly, stating, "We're saying 'Hey, why are you getting loud?' It's bad sportsmanship to do it right as the pitch comes up when our girls are batting, and that's all it took." He recalled Hall responding, "He just flipped and said, I can do whatever I want, I can say whatever I want. And you can't stop me."
Bystanders eventually broke up the fight before Sugar Land police arrived. Kiarious and Jazmine Hall were arrested and booked into the Fort Bend County Jail on charges of assault causing bodily injury. Kiarious Hall reportedly told investigators he acted in self-defense after being "elbowed and poked," but court documents indicated that video evidence did not support his account.
Following the incident, Jazmine Hall voluntarily resigned from her position as an assistant principal at Lamar Junior High School. The Lamar Consolidated Independent School District confirmed her resignation, stating that the incident occurred outside of school and was not affiliated with any district-sponsored event.
