Gary Hutton, a 59-year-old NHS paramedic from Doncaster, has been jailed for 10 years after admitting to a scheme where he groomed mothers online with the intent of sexually abusing their young daughters. The offenses came to light during an undercover police operation targeting online predators.
Hutton, who had been employed by Yorkshire Ambulance Service since 1998 and qualified as a paramedic in 2013, was arrested in February 2025. He communicated with an undercover policewoman posing as a mother, sending her indecent images of himself and suggesting meetings for sexual activity involving her child. During these exchanges, Hutton, a married father, reportedly sent selfies of himself in his paramedic uniform and in his ambulance, using his position to gain trust.
Investigators discovered near-identical conversations on three mobile phones, two tablets, a laptop, and a computer seized from Hutton. These revealed attempts to groom at least two other women with children aged between seven and 12, discussing the sexual abuse and 'education' of the youngsters. One woman reported that Hutton responded to a picture of her 18-month-old baby by saying 'very nice.' He also claimed to have been asked to 'educate' the 13-year-old daughter of another couple he had messaged.
During his interactions with the undercover officer, Hutton discussed his 'kinks' and interest in 'taboos,' and asked about meeting on his day off, indicating he did not want his wife or employer to discover his activities. He was subsequently branded a 'dangerous offender' by a judge at Sheffield Crown Court last November.
In its ruling, the Healthcare Practitioners Tribunal Service (HCPTS), which struck Hutton off the register, noted that while no actual harm was caused, his actions had the potential to place vulnerable children at risk. The panel described his conduct as 'predatory behaviour in grooming mothers with a view to engaging in the sexual abuse of children.'
Hutton did not attend the HCPTS hearing. He is currently held at Doncaster Prison and will be on license until 2040 following his release. He is also subject to a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
