Paige DeSorbo Credits Hypochlorous Acid Spray for Preventing Travel Breakouts

Reality television personality Paige DeSorbo has revealed her go-to product for maintaining clear skin during air travel: Medicube's Hypochlorous Acid Daily Facial Spray. DeSorbo shared on the podcast "Giggly Squad" that she uses the spray exclusively on flights to "help [keep] you from breaking out."

Dr. Dendy Engelman, a double board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and Mohs surgeon at the Shafer Clinic in New York City, also endorses the product, noting its effectiveness in calming and hydrating the skin while preventing acne.

"Hypochlorous acid is a relatively weak acid that has antimicrobial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties," Dr. Engelman explained. She added that the ingredient is naturally produced by the body. The dermatologist recommends the spray for those prone to acne, suggesting intermittent application, particularly after periods of sweating or oiliness, such as after workouts or travel.

Beyond its benefits for facial acne, Engelman noted that hypochlorous acid can also be beneficial for body acne and can function as a disinfectant. "As we look ahead to colder months, this is top of mind," she stated. "A hypochlorous acid spray can be used as hand sanitizer or to disinfect surfaces."

Hypochlorous acid has seen a surge in popularity on social media, with its acne-fighting and soothing properties gaining attention. The ingredient's growing trend has prompted interest in its efficacy, with experts confirming its therapeutic qualities.
