Padres Respond to Brewers' Troll Job With Elevator Music

The playful animosity between the San Diego Padres and the Milwaukee Brewers has continued, with the Padres employing a sonic counter-troll during the Brewers' practice on Monday. As the Brewers took the field at Petco Park, the stadium's sound system blasted elevator music, a direct response to a similar tactic employed by the Brewers.

Earlier in the series, when the Padres were taking batting practice at American Family Field on Saturday, the Brewers reportedly played monotonous music from their speakers. In an attempt to combat the unwelcome soundtrack, the Padres reportedly set up a Bluetooth speaker near their batting cage to play their own music. However, this effort was seemingly unsuccessful, as the Padres found themselves trailing 2-0 in the NLDS series at that point.

The series has been marked by close games and late-inning drama. In Game 1 on Saturday, the Padres lost 6-4 after blowing a seventh-inning lead, with a solo home run by Willy Adames proving to be the decisive blow. In the ninth inning of that same game, a potential go-ahead two-run homer by Ty France was negated when the ball hit the stadium roof and was caught by the fielder.

Game 2 on Sunday saw another heartbreaking loss for the Padres, who fell 4-3. Closer Mason Miller entered in the eighth inning with a 3-2 lead but issued two walks in the ninth before giving up a go-ahead two-run single to Jackson Chourio. Following the game, speculation arose that Miller might have been tipping his pitches, a claim that manager Craig Stammen denied on Monday.

The NLDS is set to continue with Game 3, featuring a pitching matchup between Nick Pivetta for the Padres and Dustin May for the Brewers.
