Padres Fan's Viral Date Search Finds a Match

A San Diego Padres fan's unique approach to finding a date for a playoff game went viral, culminating in an unexpected but positive experience.

The fan, who uses the X (formerly Twitter) username @Eggorian, initially posted a detailed list of criteria for a potential date to attend the Padres vs. Cubs playoff game. His post specified he was seeking a female, single individual between the ages of 30 and 55 who was also a "Padres fanatic."

"Do you want to go to the #Padres / Cubs playoff game on Wednesday night with me? This is me. I sit here….dugout club section 4. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I no longer have a date for the game and want to fix that," his initial post read. He invited interested individuals to send him a direct message.

The fan later provided an update on his search, stating that while he received hundreds of direct messages, many were from men and younger women. However, en route to the game, he received a recommendation from a friend to ask a 41-year-old acquaintance. He extended the invitation, and it was accepted.

"She accepted and we went. By all accounts, we had a great time. Healthy conversations about a variety of topics. Our opinions didn’t always align and believe it or not…that’s OK. Most importantly, the Pads closed out the Cubs and are moving on," he wrote.

The fan's initial post garnered significant attention and some criticism for its public nature. However, the subsequent update revealed a successful outing, with the Padres securing a victory and advancing in the playoffs.
