Packers Running Back Josh Jacobs Faces New Abuse Allegations
Three women have accused the NFL player of domestic abuse, detailing incidents that occurred prior to his May arrest.
At least three women have contacted the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department in Wisconsin alleging physical abuse by Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs. These allegations surfaced following a May 23 incident with his then-girlfriend, which led to his arrest three days later on domestic abuse charges. The new details emerged from a redacted police report.
Jacobs was arrested on May 26, facing charges of strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. He later pleaded no contest to one misdemeanor count of battery and one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property on September 10.
One woman reported an alleged incident from January 2022, stating that Jacobs slapped her, threw her onto a bed and the floor, grabbed her throat, and spat on her. She also alleged that he took her cell phone and threatened her life, saying, “I should kill you right now.” According to her account, Jacobs became angry when she refused his sexual advances.
Another woman alleged that in April 2021, Jacobs grabbed her arms and biceps, pushed her against a wall, and threw her belongings outside. This incident allegedly occurred after a condom broke during sex, and she had asked him to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases. She reported experiencing bruising, pain, and swelling near her ribs as a result of his actions.
A third woman claimed that in May 2022, Jacobs placed his hands on her head and neck, dragged her, scratched her, and took her cell phone. She stated that Jacobs threatened her with deportation if she reported the incident. This woman reportedly relayed her experience to police after being prompted by the woman who was involved in the May incident.
Previous reports indicated that responding officers in some of these earlier incidents did not observe visible signs of injury or damage consistent with a physical altercation, according to the redacted police file. In one instance, police were told it was not being treated as a domestic violence case because the two were not a couple.
The NFL is continuing its investigation into the matter. Jacobs was placed on the commissioner's exempt list at the start of the season but was activated by the Packers for their Week 7 game. He has publicly stated remorse for putting the team in a difficult situation, describing how a "four-second, three-second decision can alter your life."
