OutKick has introduced its inaugural original animated series, titled 'Sports Talk with Cal McCallister.' The series centers on Cal McCallister, a veteran radio host described as a "doddering old curmudgeon" with decades of experience. The show will feature McCallister delivering hot takes while interacting with callers and his producer and grandson, Jody.
The first animated short is set to premiere on Wednesday on the OutKick YouTube channel and will also be available on social media. A total of eight episodes are planned, with each one created by a single individual using an iPad. This creative process involved scriptwriting, voice acting, music composition, editing, and animation.
Behind-the-scenes assistance was provided to help prepare the series for release, and other OutKick personalities are expected to be featured. The creation of the series began in December, with the initial concepts for Cal and Jody starting as rough sketches.
New episodes of 'Sports Talk with Cal McCallister' will be released weekly on Wednesdays. Cal McCallister can also be followed on X and Instagram under the handle @SportsTalkCal.
