Ousted Trump Press Secretary Katie Zacharia Breaks Silence

Katie Zacharia, who served as press secretary for former President Donald Trump, has broken her silence following her abrupt dismissal just five days into the role. Zacharia released a statement on Instagram expressing her admiration for Trump.

"President Trump is a kind, wonderful, gracious, thoughtful, enthusiastic, and the most hardworking man," Zacharia wrote. "I wish more Americans appreciated him. No one will ever make America great the way he has and continues to. It was an honor to work for him."

A senior White House official confirmed Zacharia was "transitioning out" of the position on Friday. Earlier, Trump told reporters he had suggested Zacharia consider resigning. "You don't have to do this if you don't want to," Trump stated he told her. "Honestly if I were you I'd reconsider."

Trump added, "Maybe it's not for her," and when asked if he would fire her, he responded, "No, I want her to have a good life."

Zacharia's tenure is now shorter than that of Anthony Scaramucci, who served as White House communications director for 11 days in 2017. Zacharia's previous role as a communications adviser at Homeland Security also lasted only six weeks earlier this year.

A source close to Zacharia told The Daily Mail that she was placed in an untenable situation. "Katie is a beautiful person who was brought into an incredibly tough situation with sharp knives from every direction," the source said. "She was attacked by the left, the right, the media, and it seems like from nearly every room at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue."

The insider criticized Zacharia's colleagues for allegedly leaking negative comments to the press instead of offering support. "Instead of focusing on how to help her succeed, colleagues spent their time texting negative tear downs to the media," the source stated.

Zacharia's brief tenure began with a rocky 14-minute debut press briefing, which drew criticism for her nervous demeanor and limited question-and-answer session with only three reporters. Her predecessors' briefings typically averaged about 45 minutes.

During the debut briefing, Zacharia stated she passed the bar exam when she moved to China, later telling The New York Times she had not heard the question clearly due to the noise from Marine One. In a Thursday night interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, she acknowledged failing the California bar exam in 2011, not retaking it, and viewing the results as inconsequential. She concluded the interview by promising Hannity she would be prepared going forward.

The source close to Zacharia suggested that the situation highlighted broader issues within the Republican party, stating, "What we’ve unfortunately witnessed is a window into the macro political GOP system - where purity tests and greed have destroyed a near perfect launch pad for decades of success, from within."

"She had to learn this the hard way, but contrary to what international news has led people to believe all week - she’s smart, driven, kind and will be fine, and probably better off," the source added.
