Oti Mabuse Celebrates First Baby Shower After Difficult Premature Birth
The former 'Strictly Come Dancing' star expressed gratitude for her loved ones' support during a challenging pregnancy.
Pregnant Oti Mabuse recently celebrated her first baby shower, expressing deep gratitude for the support she received from loved ones during what she described as "the hardest nine months." This milestone comes after a difficult premature birth with her daughter.
Mabuse, 36, and her husband, Marius, 44, announced in June that they were expecting their second child. Their first daughter was born in November 2023, arriving approximately ten weeks premature and requiring several weeks in the hospital before returning home.
Describing the baby shower as a surprise, Mabuse shared on Instagram that the occasion meant more to her than she could express. "The first time around, baby arrived before we ever got to this part," she wrote, reflecting on the joy of celebrating their new arrival with close friends and family. "So getting to sit in a room full of my closest friends the people I call family and celebrate this little life was incredibly special."
She extended her thanks to those who attended and sent messages, calling them "anchors" who provided support through her challenging pregnancy. "For the visits, the check-ins, the concern, for helping with baby and toddler when we needed you, and for showing up even when I didn't know how to ask," she penned. "You've held our whole family through so much. I am a fuller person because you are all in my life. I love you so much. Thank you for making me feel so loved."
The couple, who married in 2014, have not publicly revealed their daughter's name. The birth was traumatic, with their daughter experiencing sepsis and requiring intensive care.
Mabuse previously spoke about the emotional toll of her daughter's birth and subsequent illness, describing the difficulty of seeing her infant wired up under blue lights and not being able to hold her for about a week. Despite the trauma, she expressed a strong desire for more children, stating, "I'd like as many as I can afford. What I have been through shocked me, but it made me even stronger."
She emphasized her role as the primary provider for her family, saying, "I'm the breadwinner and I am taking care of my family." Her ambition, she explained, is fueled by her desire to provide a good life for her children and husband.
