Oreo is introducing three new limited-edition cookie flavors, inviting consumers to decide which one deserves a permanent spot in the lineup. The experimental flavors—Banana Pudding, Deep Fried, and Chicken & Waffles—will be available for presale online starting August 17 and will hit U.S. store shelves on August 24.

The campaign, dubbed 'Twist, Lick, Vote,' allows consumers to cast their votes for their favorite flavor between August 17 and October 12. The winning cookie will be announced on October 13 and will return to stores for a limited time in 2027.

The Banana Pudding flavor features a dual-layered creme with sweet banana and vanilla pudding notes sandwiched between vanilla wafer-style cookies. Early reactions on social media show a divide, with some users praising its resemblance to boxed banana pudding and Nilla wafers, while others express skepticism about artificial banana flavoring.

The Deep Fried Oreo flavor aims to replicate the taste of a deep-fried cookie. It includes fried-dough-flavored cookies and a dual-layered creme. Some consumers have questioned the necessity of this flavor, given that actual deep-fried Oreos already exist, while others have reportedly tasted it and found it to be a faithful rendition.

Arguably the most unconventional of the trio, the Chicken & Waffles Oreo combines sweet and savory elements inspired by the classic American dish. The cookies are designed with a waffle-textured embossment and a dual-layered creme intended to evoke the flavors of fried chicken and maple syrup. This flavor has also garnered a notable following online, with some users expressing excitement and claiming to have enjoyed it, particularly the Chicken & Waffles variety.

The iconic cookie brand is launching three limited-edition flavors at once, and they range from nostalgic to downright unexpected: Banana Pudding, Deep Fried and Chicken & Waffles

Oreo's senior brand manager for Innovation, Rohit Sakhamuri, stated that the development of these flavors involved over a year of research and development, aiming to capitalize on consumer interest in playful and unexpected flavor combinations. The brand emphasized its rigorous R&D process to balance these novel tastes with the expected Oreo flavor profile. This initiative continues Oreo's history of culinary experimentation, which has included flavors like birthday cake and red velvet.
