Oregon School Shooting Spurs Calls for Action
Community mourns and grapples with the aftermath of a fatal incident at an Oregon school.
A school shooting in Oregon has left the local community "heartbroken and horrified," according to school superintendent Steven Cook.
Details about the incident remain scarce, but the event has reignited discussions about gun violence and school safety in the United States.
This shooting follows a series of other recent incidents globally, including a school roof collapse in Pakistan that resulted in casualties and Israeli settlers attacking Palestinians in the West Bank during the olive harvest. In technology news, there are reports of Tesla potentially unveiling a flying car, and in Australia, a band is attempting to break a gig world record. Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have attended their first joint engagement since returning to the UK, and discussions continue around the role of algorithms in media consumption in Australia. The geopolitical landscape also sees continued focus on the Ukraine-Russia war and its connection to Starlink technology, as well as discussions on why Ukrainian President Zelensky's meeting with Andy Burnham was significant.
