A man accused of firing over 200 rounds during a standoff with law enforcement in Oregon has been arrested after attempting to flee the scene on a compact tractor. Erik Gordon Shunn, 53, was taken into custody Saturday in Clackamas County following an incident that began with him allegedly shooting at arborists.

SWAT units responded to the scene on S. Rocky Bluff Lane and deployed a surveillance drone. Video footage captured Shunn lying on his back and firing towards the drone. Investigators believe Shunn discharged more than 200 rounds during the hours-long standoff.

After setting down his rifle, Shunn attempted to escape on a red tractor. Authorities saw this as an opportunity to apprehend him safely and used an armored vehicle to pin the tractor, leading to his arrest. The Sheriff's Office stated this maneuver offered the highest likelihood of a safe apprehension.

First responders ensured neighbors and workers in the vicinity were evacuated. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Shunn was arraigned on Monday, August 31, in Clackamas County Circuit Court. He faces nine criminal charges, including attempted murder, attempted assault, weapons offenses, and interfering with a peace officer. He is being held without bail at the Clackamas County Jail.

Authorities are asking for public assistance and encourage anyone with information regarding the incident, including any neighboring property damage or prior interactions with Shunn, to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line at 503-723-4949 or submit information online at clackcosheriff.us/submitATip.
