A man identified as Erik Gordon Shunn, 53, was arrested Saturday afternoon after an hours-long standoff with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office SWAT team in Oregon. Shunn allegedly fired more than 200 rounds, shot at a law enforcement drone, and ultimately rammed his tractor into his home in an attempt to evade capture.

The incident began when Shunn reportedly targeted multiple tree workers who had been hired to cut down trees in a rural residential and farm area south of Portland. A 911 caller reported that Shunn possessed several firearms and witnesses estimated he fired approximately 20 rounds at the tree company employees.

Responding authorities observed Shunn in his driveway, apparently using a tractor to create a barricade by knocking down trees. According to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), Shunn also fired at a CCSO drone.

Authorities observed a tactical opportunity when Shunn became separated from his rifle while operating the tractor near the front of his home. A CCSO SWAT vehicle then rammed the tractor, pinning it against the house. SWAT personnel exited the vehicle and apprehended Shunn.

Shunn received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to a local hospital for evaluation. First responders also checked on neighbors and the tree workers to ensure their safety and evacuated those in the immediate vicinity. No injuries were reported during the incident, and Shunn's mother, who was present at the home, was also unharmed.

Shunn faces charges including second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, recklessly endangering, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, unlawful possession of firearms, first-degree attempted criminal mischief, and interfering with a peace officer. He is currently being held without bail at the Clackamas County Jail.
