Oregon's football team delivered a resounding 84-0 victory over Portland State on Friday night, a win that ignited a firestorm of criticism regarding sportsmanship. The No. 21-ranked Ducks dominated from the outset, leading 28-0 by the midway point of the first quarter at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.

The Ducks, who entered the game seeking to rebound from an earlier loss to Oklahoma State, amassed 726 yards of total offense compared to Portland State's 103. Oregon also held a significant advantage in first downs, 43 to two, and controlled the ball for 40 minutes of the game.

Late in the fourth quarter, with Oregon leading 77-0, the Ducks opted not to kneel the ball to run out the clock. Instead, they executed a passing play that resulted in a 2-yard touchdown with just 28 seconds remaining. This decision drew immediate backlash from fans and observers on social media.

Portland State, which has struggled this season with a 0-4 record, conceded an average of 43.6 points per game entering Friday's contest. The 84 points scored by Oregon marked the program's highest point total in a game since a 97-0 win over Willamette in 1916.

In his postgame press conference, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning acknowledged the talent disparity between the two teams. "Obviously, the result of this game is somewhat to be expected," Lanning said. "We have a better team. No disrespect to Portland State, but that’s the way it should look when you execute the way we’re supposed to execute."
