OnlyFans Star Sophie Rain Claps Back at Pete Davidson's Comments on Millionaire Influencers
The popular content creator argues Davidson is out of touch and doesn't understand the work involved in her online business.
OnlyFans star Sophie Rain has responded sharply to comedian Pete Davidson's recent remarks about influencers earning millions, asserting that if the work is as easy as he suggests, he should try it himself. Davidson, known for his time on "Saturday Night Live," went viral for questioning the value of content creators who he claimed make "$40 million a year" by "doing nothing."
Rain, who reportedly earns around $45 million annually from her OnlyFans content, directly challenged Davidson's perspective. "I'd tell him that if it's really that easy, he should go do it," she stated in an interview. She pointed out Davidson's own past comments about considering starting an OnlyFans, suggesting he understands the financial potential of the platform. "But if you think people are making millions by accident, you probably don't understand the business very well," Rain added.
The 22-year-old influencer felt Davidson's comments were specifically aimed at successful women on the platform and criticized him for not naming individuals. "I mean, if you're going to complain about girls making millions online, you might as well say who you're talking about," Rain commented, posting "@me next time" on a clip of Davidson's interview with Variety.
Rain, who grew up on food stamps in Miami, described Davidson's remarks as "out of touch," especially since she has never met him. "Pete has never tried to date me or slid into my DMs. Maybe that's why he's so confused about what I do," she quipped.
Davidson's interview, posted in full on YouTube, expressed his dismay over the earnings of some female entrepreneurs online. "Girls are just talking to themselves on there... and I'm like, 'Who the f–k are you? What do you do? Nothing,'" he said. "They make $40 million a year... what? And then I'm like, 'The world's broken.'"
Rain, known for her OnlyFans content that is described as "lingerie bikini-level suggestive teasing," emphasized that her business involves more than just a brief video. "It's easy to look at a 60-second video and say, 'What does this person even do?' when you have no idea what goes into building an audience or running a business online. I get that he's a comedian, but the whole 'these girls do nothing' thing is just lazy," she stated.
She found it ironic that Davidson, who has previously spoken about the negative mental impact of social media comments leading him to avoid it, would criticize others' online work. Rain highlighted the significant effort involved in her career, noting her 15.4 million followers on TikTok alone. "I'm constantly filming, shooting, editing, planning content, talking to fans, looking at analytics, coordinating shoots, traveling, and working with my team. There are days where I'm working from the moment I wake up until I go to bed. Just because the finished product looks effortless doesn't mean it was effortless to make," she explained.
While Rain acknowledged Davidson's comedic talent, she found his specific criticism of female influencers lacking in wit. "I don't think saying women are doing 'nothing' because you don't understand their jobs is particularly clever. There are definitely better jokes," she said.
Rain also commented on Davidson's dating history, which includes high-profile relationships, suggesting that dating famous women does not equate to expertise on online business models. "Clearly he has something going for him. I just don't think dating famous women automatically makes you an expert on women who built businesses online," she stated.
Looking ahead, Rain mentioned that Davidson's comments might even influence her Halloween costume this year. "Maybe I'll dress up as someone who 'does nothing' and somehow still works 12-hour days," she concluded.
