One Nation has achieved a historic milestone by securing its first lower house seat in Western Australia. Candidate Luke Herdegen won the Secret Harbour by-election, defeating Labor's Georgia Tree.
As of Sunday morning, Herdegen secured 57.04 percent of the two-candidate-preferred vote, while Tree received 42.96 percent. This victory represents the first time Pauline Hanson's One Nation party has claimed a seat in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, signaling an expansion of its presence in state parliaments.
The election result also indicates a significant drop in Labor's support, with its primary vote falling to 24 percent. This is a substantial decrease from the 46 percent recorded in the 2025 WA state election. The by-election was triggered following the resignation of former Labor MP John Carey.
