One person died in a fiery crash near Los Angeles International Airport early Saturday when a vehicle collided with a freeway pillar, authorities reported. The incident, which occurred around 5 a.m. at Imperial Highway and S. Hughes Way, prompted a large response from multiple emergency agencies.

Video footage from the scene captured intense flames engulfing the car. Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department worked to extinguish the blaze, which left the vehicle severely damaged and smoldering. Officials confirmed one fatality at the scene, with no other injuries requiring transport.

A witness, who was asleep in their car at the time, described being awakened by the impact. The crash occurred in the vicinity of a FedEx facility at LAX.

Emergency responders included the LAPD West Traffic Division, LAFD, California Highway Patrol, and LAX Police. The identity of the deceased has not been released, and it remains unclear if alcohol was a factor in the collision. Investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
