One person was killed and four others were injured, including two children, in a mass shooting that occurred Saturday evening at an outdoor concert in Lexington, Kentucky. The gunfire erupted in downtown Lexington approximately 1.5 miles from where Governor Andy Beshear was speaking at a Democratic Party event.

"Before I continue, I do need to let y’all know we do have some tough news tonight," Beshear stated. "About a mile and a half from here, we’ve had a shooting actually since we started this dinner. We have five people that I think received injuries and probably have one deceased."

The victims, identified as two adults and two minors, a 14-year-old and a 4-year-old, sustained injuries around 6:45 p.m. in Charles Young Park. They were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were reported as non-life-threatening.

A spokesperson for the Lexington Police Department confirmed the investigation was ongoing Saturday night. "No further details are available at this time," the department said.

Lexington Police Chief Weathers urged the public to report any information regarding individuals who might pose a risk. "If you know somebody who might be inclined to use a weapon, please do anything you can do to let us know before something happens. Please let us know," he stated at a press conference.

The shooting at Charles Young Park marks the fourth such incident to occur within a 24-hour period across the United States, following similar events in Michigan, Virginia, and Chicago on the same Saturday.
