One person has died and several others were injured in a rollercoaster incident at Six Flags Over Georgia, according to park officials and local reports.

The incident occurred on the Goliath rollercoaster, a popular attraction that opened in 2006. Officials have not yet released the cause of death or the identities of those injured.

A park spokesperson stated that the park's team and local authorities responded immediately and are cooperating on an investigation. The mayor of Mableton, Michael Owens, confirmed that the city's public safety director is coordinating with local police and park security.

Witness accounts, which have not been officially verified, suggest a man may have been ejected from the ride and fallen onto the roof of a nearby haunted house attraction. The Goliath rollercoaster reaches a height of 200 feet, features a 170-foot plunge, a 540-degree spiral, and can reach speeds of up to 70 mph. Six Flags classifies it as a level four thrill ride out of five.

This incident is the latest in a series of fatalities at the Georgia amusement park. In 2006, a 45-year-old man died from an apparent heart attack after riding the Goliath. Personal injury attorneys have documented these past fatalities.

Six Flags, the largest amusement park operator in North America with 20 amusement parks, 14 water parks, and nine resorts across Canada, the U.S., and Mexico, recently announced the closure of its X2 roller coaster in Southern California after over 100 people alleged brain injuries from the ride. The park stated that while the ride had passed safety tests, retiring it was considered the right course of action.
