Olivia Rodrigo Declares Support for Ohio Gubernatorial Candidate Amy Acton

Pop singer Olivia Rodrigo publicly displayed her support for Democratic Ohio gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton by presenting her with flowers during recent concerts. The endorsement came as Acton is in a closely contested race against Republican Vivek Ramaswamy.

Acton shared a video on Instagram showing Rodrigo approaching the politician during her shows at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, to hand her pink flowers. The moment, captured by fans, was played on the venue's jumbotron. In her caption, Acton expressed gratitude for Rodrigo's support, stating, "Thank you for using your voice to inspire a new generation. It’s time to build a brighter future in Ohio."

This is not the first time Rodrigo has voiced political support. In August, she criticized former President Donald Trump for signing legislation that would defund Planned Parenthood.

The gubernatorial race has been marked by controversy, particularly a recent ad released by Ramaswamy's campaign. The ad featured Acton's estranged mother, Donna Arthur, accusing her daughter of lying about her past, including claims of living in a tent. The ad resurfaced details of Acton's difficult childhood, including accusations of sexual abuse by her stepfather, Cledith Arthur, and her mother's abandonment of her.

Ramaswamy's campaign invested significantly in the ad, despite facing criticism. President Donald Trump publicly defended Ramaswamy's decision to continue running the commercial.

Acton, a physician and former Ohio health director, has spoken about her childhood experiences, describing periods of instability and abuse. Her brother, Philip Stearns, also released a video condemning the advertisement and defending Acton's account.

In response to the ad, Ramaswamy's campaign later shortened it, removing specific claims made by Arthur. However, the controversy has brought renewed attention to Acton's personal history.

Meanwhile, reports have emerged detailing Donna Arthur's personal struggles, including living in her car and facing animal neglect charges. She has also made accusations against church staff and animal rescue organizations.

Acton has urged those involved in the political discourse to examine the facts. She appeared at a campaign rally with former President Barack Obama in Cleveland shortly after the controversy intensified.
