Olivia Ponton Discusses Anorexia Battle

Olivia Ponton, girlfriend of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, has opened up about her past struggles with anorexia. In a TikTok video posted on Saturday, Ponton shared her experiences in an effort to destigmatize eating disorders and offer support to those facing similar challenges.

"Being anorexic, nine times out of 10, is not going to give you the body that you’re craving, nor desiring," Ponton stated in the video. She emphasized that contrary to a common misconception, individuals who need to maintain a certain physique for their profession, such as models, do not necessarily stop eating. "And as someone who has struggled with many, many, many forms of eating disorders, specifically anorexia, I want to talk about this," she added.

Ponton clarified that the idea that anorexia leads to the most desirable physique is often inaccurate. "When people think that you are anorexic, it automatically means that you’re going to be the skinniest, and look the best that you’ve ever looked," she explained. "Example for me, when I was going through the height of my eating disorders, I have never looked worse."

She concluded by stating that she has moved beyond those disordered eating patterns and is now feeling and looking her best. Ponton's willingness to share her personal health journey is seen as a significant step in fostering open conversation and understanding around eating disorders.
