Olivia Jade Pokes Fun at College Admissions Scandal in New Ad Campaign
The YouTuber's latest campaign with Reformation features a "college" sweatshirt and highlights a charity partnership.
Olivia Jade has launched a new advertising campaign for the brand Reformation, featuring a striking visual that alludes to the college admissions scandal that previously embroiled her family. In one image from the campaign, Jade poses topless, using a clutch to cover her modesty, while another shows her wearing a grey crew neck sweatshirt emblazoned with the word "college."
The campaign arrives nearly seven years after Jade, along with her parents, actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, became central figures in a nationwide college admissions fraud investigation. The scandal, dubbed Operation Varsity Blues, revealed that numerous wealthy families had paid bribes to secure their children's admission into elite universities.
Loughlin and Giannulli were among dozens of individuals charged in March 2019 with conspiracy and fraud. The couple was accused of paying $500,000 to an admissions consultant to falsely present their daughters, Isabella Rose and Olivia Jade, as recruits for the University of Southern California's rowing team, despite neither daughter having prior experience in the sport. Both parents pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges in May 2020. Loughlin served a two-month sentence and was released in December 2020, while Giannulli served a five-month sentence and was released to home confinement in April 2021.
In conjunction with the new campaign, Reformation announced that 100% of the proceeds from the "college" sweatshirt will be donated to YES Scholars, a non-profit organization dedicated to making higher education more accessible for marginalized communities. The brand shared a post on Instagram with the caption, "Thanks for being a Good Sport, Olivia."
