Olivia Colman's Evolving Appearance: From Sitcom Star to Silver-Haired Icon
The Oscar-winning actress has embraced a significant physical transformation throughout her career, recently debuting a striking long, silver hairstyle.

Olivia Colman, the 52-year-old Oscar-winning actress, has captivated audiences not only with her performances but also with her evolving look. Recently, she surprised fans by debuting a dramatic new style: long, silver hair at the premiere of her latest film, "Wicker," at the Zurich Film Festival. This departure from her trademark brunette pixie cut marks a significant moment in her career-long physical transformation.
Colman first rose to prominence in the early 2000s as Sophie in the British sitcom "Peep Show." In the series, her character's appearance underwent subtle changes, with variations in hair length and style. However, it was her role as DS Ellie Miller in the 2013 ITV crime drama "Broadchurch" that cemented her status as a household name in the UK. For this role, her natural short, curly hair gradually grew longer over the series' run, by the third season reaching past her shoulders.
Her international stardom soared with her portrayal of Queen Anne in Yorgos Lanthimos's 2018 film "The Favourite." To embody the historical figure, Colman gained approximately 16 kilograms (2.5 stone), a decision she found liberating as it allowed her to focus on the character's performance without the pressure of looking conventionally attractive. "I wasn’t meant to look nice or be nice, and it was liberating and brilliant," she stated. However, shedding the weight afterward proved challenging, as she recounted to Deadline in 2019, describing the process as "depressing" and noting its impact on her energy levels and physical well-being.
To regain her pre-filming physique and healthy lifestyle, Colman worked with personal trainer Dalton Wong. Wong adopted a balanced approach, focusing on exercise, proper recovery, and sustainable nutrition. Their training regimen, which included posture work, resistance training, and cardio, helped Colman transform her body shape, which she credited to Wong's guidance. She has also been open about undergoing cosmetic procedures, admitting to using Botox to maintain a youthful appearance.
Colman's latest public appearance showcases her new long, silver hair as she promotes "Wicker." The film, described as a dark comedy, features Colman as a lonely fisherwoman who commissions a basketmaker to create a husband for her. The film is set for release on October 30.
