Olivia Bowen's Son Suffers Serious Eye Injury
Former Love Island star Olivia Bowen shared the terrifying experience of her son Abel, aged four, nearly losing an eye after a stick accident at nursery.
Former Love Island star Olivia Bowen revealed that her four-year-old son, Abel, experienced a severe eye injury at nursery that nearly resulted in the loss of his eye. The incident occurred when Abel impaled his eye with a stick during a forest school activity.
Recounting the event, Bowen described it as the most frightening moment of her life, noting the significant amount of blood. She explained that upon arrival at the hospital, Abel had a patch over his eye, and the extent of the injury was initially unclear as he would not allow them to examine it. Concerns were high about whether the stick had penetrated or damaged his eyeball.
Abel underwent surgery to repair a sliced tear duct and had a stent inserted to aid drainage during his recovery. Fortunately, his vision was fully restored, and he has 20-20 eyesight.
Bowen expressed that the incident made her realize how much eyesight is taken for granted, particularly for children learning to read as they begin school. She shared that she and her husband, Alex Bowen, have been contemplating a move to their Spanish home for some time, seeking a different lifestyle for their children. However, recent global events have caused her to reconsider, leading to doubts about a permanent relocation.
In a statement on Instagram Stories, Bowen admitted to waking up daily considering a move to Spain for the family, including homeschooling considerations as Abel is due to start school this year. She expressed feelings of heaviness and worry about the current state of the world, questioning whether a move would be an attempt to escape these anxieties.
Despite her concerns, Bowen shared that they are beginning the process of exploring a move later this year, looking into areas, visas, and schools. They plan to spend extended periods in Spain to assess if it aligns with their desires. The feedback from her followers has been overwhelmingly supportive of the idea of moving, with approximately 98.5% encouraging the relocation. Bowen and Alex Bowen purchased their current home in Essex in June 2023 and spent ten months completing its construction and renovation.
