Olivia has once again been named the most popular name for baby girls in England and Wales for 2025, marking its fourth consecutive year at the top. For boys, Muhammad secured the most popular name for the third year running.
The annual data, released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), is based on birth registration data from the past calendar year. This year's findings show a few shifts within the top ten.
Amelia, which previously held the second position for girls' names, has moved down to third place. For boys, Noah is now the second most popular name, and Leo has entered the top three at third place.
In the girls' top ten, Isla remains in fourth place, followed by Florence, Freya, Poppy, Elsie, and Ivy. Isabella is a new entry into the top ten for girls.
Among the boys' top names, Luca is the fourth most popular, followed by Arthur, Oliver, George, Oscar, Theodore, and Freddie.
The ONS also highlighted new entries into the top 100 for both genders. Eliana, Gracie, Alba, and Lilah are among the new names for girls in the top 100. For boys, Carter, Ruben, Stanley, and Vincent are new additions to this list.
Conversely, some names have fallen out of the top 100. Ellie, Amelie, and Jessica are no longer among the most popular girls' names, while Grayson, Brody, and Bodhi have dropped out of the top 100 for boys.
