Oleshky Evacuees Reunite With Loved Ones Amid Ceasefire

Evacuees from the Russian-occupied city of Oleshky were reunited with family members on Saturday in the Chernihiv region of northern Ukraine. The reunions occurred after the evacuees arrived by bus and ambulance, having traveled through Crimea and Russia. This development follows a ceasefire that took effect in the frontline Kherson region on Tuesday, brokered by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump.

The temporary ceasefire is scheduled to remain in place until Sunday, November 1.

Families met at a designated site in Chernihiv after their evacuation from Oleshky on Friday. The journey for those evacuated involved transit via Russian-occupied Crimea and then Russia before reaching Ukraine through Belarus.

The BBC's Dan Johnson reported from the reunion site near the Ukrainian border with Belarus.
