Old Navy and Altuzarra Launch Affordable Collection Inspired by Classic Literature
The collaboration features 44 pieces, including dresses, jackets, and knitwear, drawing inspiration from 19th-century novels.
Old Navy has partnered with designer Joseph Altuzarra to release a 44-piece collection that blends Altuzarra's signature romantic aesthetic with Old Navy's accessible price point. Inspired by classic literature, particularly novels like "Wuthering Heights" and "Pride and Prejudice," the collection aims to evoke a sense of historical romance and whimsy.
Joseph Altuzarra told Who What Wear that he envisioned the collection being worn on a "windswept Scottish moor," reflecting the literary themes. Each item in the collection is designed with a unique detail: the tag doubles as a bookmark. The collection's launch event was held at McNally Jackson Books' Rockefeller Center store and was attended by notable figures such as Riley Keough and Alexa Chung.
The collection offers a range of items, including dresses, knitwear, and outerwear, with prices generally under $150. Standout pieces include an embellished bomber jacket, several maxi dresses in floral and plaid prints, and a Fair Isle mock-neck sweater. A convertible parka, worn by Riley Keough at the launch event, features a detachable plaid lining that can be worn separately. Other featured items include a ribbed turtleneck, a draped scarf tank top, a funnel-neck overcoat, a velvet maxi dress, an embroidered cardigan, and a scarf maxi dress.
The collaboration is noted for looking significantly more expensive than its retail price, a common characteristic of successful designer partnerships with mass-market brands. Given the popularity of previous Old Navy designer collaborations, items are expected to sell out quickly.
