Oktoberfest Alternatives Offer Cheaper Pints for Travelers

While Munich hosts the renowned Oktoberfest, travelers looking for similar festivities can explore more budget-friendly alternatives around the globe. Destinations such as Prague, Budapest, Amsterdam, Valletta, and Cancun offer opportunities to enjoy local brews and vibrant atmospheres at a lower cost.

Prague, Czech Republic, provides traditional pubs and local beers starting at approximately £1.40 per pint. Beyond sampling brews, visitors can experience a unique beer bath from £95 for two people and explore historic landmarks like Prague Castle. TUI offers a three-night stay in Prague starting at £292 per person.

Budapest, Hungary, is highlighted for its lively nightlife and beer scene, with pints costing around £1.50. The city offers a range of traditional and craft beers, with views along the Danube River. A three-night holiday package to Budapest, including breakfast, is available from £427 per person.

For those closer to the UK, Amsterdam in the Netherlands offers the Heineken Experience, where visitors can learn about the famous beer and enjoy two drinks for £22. Local pints are also significantly cheaper than in the UK. Three-night holidays to Amsterdam start at £429 per person.

Valletta, Malta, presents a more relaxed, sun-soaked setting for enjoying local and craft beers. Cisk, a local favorite, costs around €2 (£1.70) per pint. The Farsons Brewery Experience offers a tour of a long-standing local brewery. TUI offers seven-night holidays to Malta from £667 per person.

Cancun, Mexico, provides an alternative for those preferring a beer with Caribbean sunshine. Alongside known brands like Corona, Mexico offers traditional beers in microbreweries and beachside bars. Travelers can also experience the lively atmosphere of Playa del Carmen. A seven-night stay in Cancun is available from £909 per person.

Chris Logan, commercial director at TUI UK&I, noted that while Oktoberfest is a popular event, many destinations offer rich beer cultures and opportunities for sightseeing and culinary experiences. He added that long-haul options like Mexico provide a relaxed, all-inclusive alternative for those seeking sun and local beverages.
