Oklahoma Man Dives Through Window to Escape Police, Leaves ID Behind

An Oklahoma man’s attempt to evade law enforcement by diving through a closed window ended unsuccessfully after he left his identification behind, according to authorities. The incident occurred on October 1, when deputies from the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported burglary in progress at a vacant home.

Upon arrival, a deputy encountered Rayven Lee Wooten, 24, inside the residence, allegedly in the process of stealing copper wire from a dishwasher. Video from the deputy's bodycam shows Wooten being ordered to remove his hands from his pockets and surrender. Instead of complying, Wooten fled through the kitchen and launched himself headfirst through a closed living room window.

Deputies radioed that the suspect was on foot, having made a dramatic escape. However, Wooten’s bid for freedom was short-lived. He had left a backpack at the scene, which contained his driver’s license. This discovery allowed deputies to identify and locate him.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office shared the bodycam footage, humorously noting that the suspect had taken the phrase "Make a break for it" too literally and suggested he "missed his calling as a Hollywood stuntman."

Wooten has been charged with burglary, resisting arrest, and obstructing an officer.
