An Oklahoma influencer and her husband died in an apparent murder-suicide two weeks after she publicly accused him of being a pedophile on TikTok.

Sara Gilson, 43, was found dead along with her husband, Shawn Duffey, 48, in her Owasso home on Thursday, July 23. A child residing in the home made the 911 call that led authorities to the scene around 11:15 p.m. The victims were identified by a family member.

Less than two weeks prior to their deaths, Gilson posted a video on TikTok in which she stated, "Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile." The video was part of a trend where users create mockumentaries about real-life events.

Gilson had been seeking an extended emergency protection order against Duffey. Court documents indicated that Duffey was required to stay 100 yards away from his wife, forcing him to leave their home. Gilson had alleged in her application for the order that Duffey had threatened suicide and gone on the run.

On the same day Gilson sought to extend her protective order, a separate order was issued against Duffey on behalf of a 15-year-old girl. The girl was a member of a youth basketball team coached by Duffey. According to the application for this protective order, Duffey allegedly sent the minor inappropriate messages, kissed her, touched her inappropriately, and offered her money to remain silent after inviting her to his hotel room during a tournament.
