Oklahoma Commit Seneca Driver Choke-Slams Opponent, Draws Penalty
The five-star recruit's aggressive move occurred during a high school football game.
During a Kentucky high school football matchup on Friday, Boyle County tight end Seneca Driver, an Oklahoma commit, executed a move reminiscent of professional wrestling by choke-slamming an opponent after an interception. The incident occurred midway through the game against Ballard when a pass intended for Driver was intercepted by cornerback Andy Shepherd.
Driver, described as 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, immediately pursued Shepherd, lifted him over his head, and slammed him to the turf. The action prompted a crowd reaction and Shepherd, after getting up, appeared ready to confront Driver, but was restrained by teammates. Officials assessed a personal foul penalty for the maneuver.
Despite the penalty, it did not significantly impact the game's outcome, as Boyle County secured a 38-3 victory over Ballard, improving their season record to 4-1.
Driver, a senior, has been a notable player for Boyle County, earning Kentucky’s 4A Player of the Year honors in 2025. His previous season statistics included 875 receiving yards, 11 touchdowns, 67 tackles, and five interceptions. He was also recognized on USA Today’s All-American Preseason Third Team.
This is not the first disciplinary issue Driver has faced this season. He was ejected from a Week 3 game against Lexington Catholic following two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. Consequently, he was suspended for the subsequent game, which marked Boyle County's sole loss of the season to date.
Driver, who committed to Oklahoma in March, was also heavily recruited by the University of Kentucky. He expressed that the coaching staff under Will Stein was more engaging in his recruitment compared to the previous administration led by Mark Stoops.
