The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) has fired a staff attorney after an internal investigation into a social media tirade critical of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The agency confirmed the termination to Fox News Digital on Friday.
Shannon Desherow, a staff attorney at the OSBI, was placed under investigation after posting an expletive-filled video on TikTok that encouraged resistance to federal immigration enforcement. The video was reshared by the account Libs of TikTok on July 9.
In the video, Desherow stated that conservatives who advocate for compliance with ICE agents misunderstand the agency's authority over U.S. citizens. "ICE has no authority and no jurisdiction over U.S. citizens," she said. "So why the f--- would I comply with an order given to me at gunpoint by somebody who has no f---ing authority to make that order?"
Desherow further argued that ICE warrants are typically administrative and do not satisfy the Fourth Amendment's requirements for entering a home or making an arrest. "I was born here, and I’m going to make it an ICE agent’s problem. I don’t have to f---ing comply with ICE, because I was born here," she stated. She also encouraged other citizens to adopt a similar mindset and to "make their lives f---ing miserable."
Her social media activity also included critical remarks about conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot. Desherow suggested Kirk and others like him preach violent rhetoric and then express surprise when they become victims of it.
Desherow's LinkedIn profile indicated she was working as an assistant general counsel for the OSBI. Her bio reportedly included a Palestinian flag emoji and a disclaimer that her views were her own and not representative of her employer. She graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma and received her law degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
An OSBI spokesperson confirmed the agency was made aware of the social media post and initiated an internal investigation. "Upon completion of the internal investigation, she was terminated," the spokesperson said, adding that the agency could not comment further on the personnel matter.
Fox News Digital reached out to ICE and attempted to contact Desherow for comment. The OSBI has not provided further details on the matter, citing its status as a personnel issue.
