An Ojai pastor with a dual role as a massage therapist has been charged with six felony counts related to the alleged sexual abuse of two children under the age of 14. Authorities fear that additional victims may exist.
David Johnson, 58, faces charges of four counts of lewd acts upon a child and two counts of continuous sexual abuse. The alleged abuse is reported to have occurred over several years in Ojai and Oxnard, according to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors have also filed special allegations noting substantial sexual conduct and that the alleged victims were younger than 14. Investigators stated that the victims knew Johnson through a familial relationship, which provided him access to the children.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about Johnson or who believes they may have been victimized by him to come forward. Detective Michael Loth of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at (805) 384-4745.
Johnson pleaded not guilty to all charges during his arraignment in Ventura County Superior Court. He is currently being held without bail, with a bail review hearing scheduled for Friday, August 28.
