Ohio State's star quarterback Julian Sayin sustained an injury during the Buckeyes' Week 7 victory against Indiana and is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. The injury occurred in the fourth quarter of the 19-15 road win, when Sayin was sacked and fumbled the ball.
Sayin, who entered Week 7 tied for fourth nationally with 17 passing touchdowns and ranked sixth in FBS with 1,772 passing yards, left the game with approximately eight minutes remaining. He was later seen with his throwing arm in a sling.
Following the game, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day confirmed that Sayin is expected to be out for "a couple weeks." Sayin completed 15 of 29 passes for 235 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions against Indiana before his departure.
True freshman Luke Fahey, a three-star recruit from Mission Viejo, California, replaced Sayin. This was Fahey's third appearance of the season. He has completed 9 of 11 passes for 203 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions over the course of the year.
The Buckeyes, now 6-1 with their only loss to Texas, have a bye week before traveling to face USC on October 31. Ohio State's remaining regular-season schedule includes games against Oregon, Northwestern, Nebraska, and Michigan.
