Ohio State Quarterback Julian Sayin Out Multiple Weeks With Injury
The star player suffered an arm injury during the Buckeyes' win over Indiana, leaving his team without its primary signal-caller.
Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin will be sidelined for multiple weeks due to an arm injury sustained during the Buckeyes' 19-15 victory against No. 5 Indiana on Saturday. Head coach Ryan Day confirmed the expected absence to reporters following the game.
Sayin exited the contest with approximately five minutes remaining after a hit from Indiana defensive tackle Mario Landino resulted in a strip-sack. His throwing arm was pinned during the collision, and he was observed to be in pain. Sayin was later seen on the sideline wearing a sling.
Prior to his departure, Sayin completed 15 of 29 passes for 235 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. A pivotal moment in the game was his 38-yard pass to receiver Jeremiah Smith, which extended the Buckeyes' lead into double digits on a fourth-and-1 play early in the fourth quarter.
Backup quarterback Luke Fahey entered the game to finish the final minutes. During Fahey's two possessions, Ohio State's offense was unable to gain any yards, resulting in two punts.
Sayin, a 2025 Heisman finalist, has had a strong junior season, accumulating 2,007 passing yards and 19 touchdowns.
The Buckeyes now face a challenging upcoming schedule without their starting quarterback. Their next game is an away game against No. 19 USC, followed by home contests against Oregon and No. 25 Northwestern. The team will then travel to Nebraska to face the Cornhuskers.
