Senator Jon Husted of Ohio has responded to a Fox News poll that revealed a majority of Ohio voters are concerned about his close relationship with former President Donald Trump. The August poll indicated that 51% of Ohio voters expressed being "very concerned" or "extremely concerned" that Husted is "basically in Trump’s pocket." In contrast, 44% of voters held similar concerns regarding Husted's Democratic opponent, Senator Sherrod Brown.

Husted addressed these concerns during an interview on America's Newsroom, noting that Trump won Ohio in the past three presidential elections. He also acknowledged that midterm elections often present challenges for the party in power.

"So look, the president won Ohio three times by eight, eight and 11 points," Husted said. "Donald Trump is fighting for lower prices; he is fighting for a stronger economy, and, again, I want to celebrate the working family tax cut plan, which [promises] no tax on tips and no tax on overtime and Social Security, a $2,200 tax credit for working families," he added. "These are things we have done to make life more affordable by letting people keep more to spend on their priorities."

The interview comes as recent polls show Brown leading Husted in the U.S. Senate race, with Brown at 47% and Husted at 44%. Husted’s support for AI data centers has also been cited as a factor not helping his campaign, particularly in light of Trump's declining poll numbers.
