An Ohio mother of 16, Elizabeth Siders, 33, has formally requested through her attorney to be reunited with her children while she faces 16 counts of second-degree child endangerment. Siders is currently being held on a $300,000 bond, along with her husband, Gary Siders Jr., and his parents, Gary Siders Sr. and Christina Siders, who also face the same charges.
In a court filing obtained by WOWK 13, Siders' attorney, J. Thomas Stolly, argued that his client's principal desire is to reunite with her children and that she understands her ability to appear before the court is crucial for any potential reunification. The filing also stated that Siders would not pose a threat to her children, as they have been removed from her care. A judge has yet to rule on this request.
The four defendants, who are not originally from Vinton County, entered not guilty pleas on their behalf during a court hearing last week. All defendants were assigned $300,000 bond.
Authorities discovered the children, who ranged in age from 18 months to 18 years old, in what officials described as "deplorable" conditions on June 30, 2026. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson called the scene the worst he had encountered in his career, describing it as "pure evil." He indicated that without intervention, multiple deaths might have occurred. Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain reported a high presence of feces and bacterial matter in the living areas.
Two of the children were transported to Level 1 trauma centers due to their injuries. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine stated he was being updated on the case and expressed heartbreak over the children's living conditions and medical states. He thanked the children's services workers, law enforcement officers, and medical personnel involved in assisting the children.
