An off-duty police officer has been charged in the death of a 16-year-old boy, Ryley Hutson, who was killed in an e-bike crash. The incident occurred on Chilwell Lane in Bramcote, Nottinghamshire, around 10 a.m. on September 28 of the previous year.

Daniel Cartwright, 31, a serving police officer with Bedfordshire Police who was off-duty at the time, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He is scheduled to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on August 6.

Ryley Hutson was pronounced dead at the scene following a collision involving his electric bike and two cars. Emergency services responded to the location after the incident.

Detective Inspector Jamie Moore of Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit stated, "This was a tragic incident which has had a devastating impact on Ryley's family." He added that the family has been updated on the investigation's progress and that thoughts remain with them.

In a GoFundMe fundraiser established after the crash, Ryley's aunt described him as "full of life, laughter, and love." She further stated, "Our world has been shattered by the heart-breaking loss of 16-year-old Ryley, who tragically passed away in a fatal motorcycle accident." She characterized the teenager as "a cheeky soul who left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him."
