Odell Beckham Jr. Joins Minnesota Vikings Practice Squad

Odell Beckham Jr. has signed with the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad, marking his sixth NFL team. The veteran wide receiver had been released by the New York Giants the previous week after a brief stint where he was on the field for only 20 snaps across the first three games of the season. He was signed to a $1.3 million deal with the Giants, though he only received approximately $220,000 this season.

Beckham Jr. had been attempting to secure a return to the Giants, the team that originally drafted him 12th overall in 2014. His departure from New York appeared to leave him with lingering frustration, which he expressed on social media. "[I don't know] why they even gave me the run along," he wrote on Instagram. "I [could have] really been playing this year somewhere and making [an] impact and I mean that from a person whose (sic) humbled by God and life." He added, "They got me!!! I came in HUMBLY, took vet min then EARNED my spot [and] didn't say nothing bout no $$ which I [know] make for everybody."

Beckham Jr. did not record any catches in his three games with the Giants this season and was only targeted once. He expressed further personal disappointment about the situation, stating, "my heart to the core is [coming] home and seeing my son and how happy he was with no idea of what happened and talkin' [about] my job [and] jersey number 13 broke me [the f***] down."

In Minnesota, Beckham Jr. could potentially link up with LSU alumnus Justin Jefferson, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury. If elevated to the main roster, he would compete for snaps with players like Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings, and Tai Felton.

Beckham Jr.'s NFL career began with the Giants in 2014. He was later traded to the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2019 season. After being waived by the Browns in 2021, he signed with the Los Angeles Rams, winning a Super Bowl with them at the end of the 2021 season. He has also had brief stints with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins. In 2025, he was suspended for six games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
