Odell Beckham Jr. Inactive for First Vikings Game

Veteran wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is inactive for his first game with the Minnesota Vikings as they face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. The move comes despite an injury to fellow wide receiver Jordan Addison, who is sidelined with a hamstring issue.

Beckham Jr. signed with the Vikings on Wednesday, eight days after being released by the New York Giants. Minnesota bolstered its receiving corps, which has been hampered by injuries to key players like Addison and Justin Jefferson. Jefferson, who had missed the previous week with an ankle injury, is active for the game against the Saints.

The 33-year-old Beckham Jr., a Louisiana native, will miss a homecoming game at the Superdome, where he has had notable performances in the past, including an eight-catch, 130-yard, three-touchdown game in 2015.

This season marks Beckham Jr.'s return to football after a two-year absence following an ACL tear in Super Bowl 56 with the Los Angeles Rams. In 26 regular-season games with the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins during this period, he recorded 44 receptions for 620 yards and three touchdowns. He appeared in three games for the Giants this season without recording a reception, despite being targeted once.

Beckham Jr.'s next opportunity to debut for the Vikings will be in Week 6 at U.S. Bank Stadium against the Indianapolis Colts.
