Southern California is gearing up for the 2027 debut of OCVIBE, a $4 billion, 100-acre mixed-use district surrounding Anaheim's Honda Center. The project aims to transform the area into a destination offering dining, nightlife, shopping, residential units, offices, hotels, and public gathering spaces.
Key components slated for unveiling in 2027 include an 18,000-square-foot live concert hall with a 5,000-seat capacity and Katella Commons, a 50,000-square-foot market hall. The concert venue is being designed for optimal acoustics and stage views, with a three-tiered seating system and amenities for performers. It is also intended to host comedy shows, televised events, and esports.
Katella Commons will house dozens of food and drink establishments. Five culinary teams have been announced as headliners for the market hall. These include James Beard Award semifinalists Danielle Duran Zecca and Alessandro Zecca, known for their "MexItalian" spot Amiga Amore. Also joining are Alberto Bañuelos, founder of Burritos La Palma; the duo behind Evil Cooks taqueria, Alex Garcia and Elvia Huerta; and Manaao Thai Comfort Food founders Kanate Ungkasrithongkul and Anita Lin. Zach Scherer, founder of Santa Ana’s DARKROOM, which was recognized by the Los Angeles Times, is also among the announced culinary partners.
The Katella Commons market hall is designed with airy open spaces, natural light, and communal gathering areas. The broader OCVIBE development will also see the opening of The Weave, a co-working hub, the South Plaza, and an Urban Park featuring walking trails and an outdoor art gallery in 2027.
Construction of the OCVIBE district will proceed in phases, with different sections opening incrementally as development continues over the next several years.
